WELCOME TO THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF PALYNOLOGISTS!
BIENVENUE À L’ASSOCIATION CANADIENNE DES PALYNOLOGUES!

Since 1978, the Canadian Association of Palynologists has advanced all aspects of palynology in Canada, promoting cooperation between palynologists and those engaged in related fields of study. We welcome new members!

Palynology is the study of organic-walled microfossils, also called palynomorphs, which can be preserved in sediments and rocks over geological times. Pollen and spores produced by plants are typically the most common palynomorphs in the terrestrial realm. Palynology also deals with a wide variety of organisms from aquatic environments, such as dinoflagellate cysts, acritarchs, desmids and chitinozoans. Applications include, but are not limited to: biostratigraphy, paleoecology and paleoenvironmental reconstructions, taxonomy, archeological and forensic palynology, and melissopalynology. Possibilities are endless!
