Dear CAP members and the larger palynology/paleobotany community,
In May 2024, CAP president Jen Galloway and CAP Councillor to International Federation of Palynological Societies Vera Pospelova attended the XI International Organization of Paleobotany (IOPC) and XV International Palynological Congress (IPC) meeting in Prague, Czech Republic. Jen Galloway and her paleobotanist counterpart Christopher West (Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta) presented a bid on behalf of CAP and the Canadian paleobotany community to host the next join IOPC-IPC meeting in Calgary, Alberta in 2028. Jen’s bid to the IFPS was unanimously approved, as was Christopher’s bid to the paleobotany community. IPC-IOPC will take place August 7–11, 2028 at the Telus Calgary Convention Centre, Calgary, AB. Manuel Bringué is Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee which also includes palynologists Jen Galloway and Kim Bell.
Join us for the 16th International Palynological Congress and the 12th International Organization of Palaeobotany Congress, the premier global gathering of palynologists and palaeobotanists. Held every four years, this joint congress brings together an international community of researchers and professionals to share discoveries, foster collaboration, and advance our understanding of Earth’s past, present, and future.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Canadian Rockies, Calgary offers an inspiring destination for five days of scientific exchange, networking, and field exploration. We look forward to welcoming you to IPC–IOPC 2028!
